Here are my thoughts in this short and sweet blog today.
One of the biggest obstacle is Yelich. The Cardinal pitchers have to find a way to pitch him inside or pitch around him all together. The other is that the Brewers are all to comfortable at the plate. The Cardinals have to find away to lower that confidence and one way is that the starter needs to go deeper in the game. Keeping the ball down and pitching on the left side are things the starters need to accomplish if they are to cool down the Brewers offence. Over the last few games the starters have had a problem pitching on the left side of the plate to left handed batters, The Brewers have taken advantage of this and answered with the long ball.
Carpenter has been having a rough time hitting against the shift but I have full confidence he is working on making adjustments. The last two home run attempts by Carpenter at Miller Park have been caught( just barely). Its only a matter of time before he gets past the out fielder and over the wall. I know as fans, its frustrating to see The Cards lose to a tough team but I feel the more the Cardinals see the Brewers the more adjustments will be made. Even though they fell short last night you have to give them credit for battling it out and showing determination. They lost by only 3 runs, It could have been worse.
Ozuna and DeJong have been on fire and and were responsible for 2 of the 3 home runs by The Cardinals, the other by Goldschmidt who is starting to heat up after a slow start to the season. The rest of the lineup will have to keep pace against the hot Brewers team. Again, I feel that the team is getting closer to figuring out how to cool down the brew crew, lets keep our fingers crossed its sooner than later.
